Awards in Jamaica
Since 1992 the organization has provided 50 high-school scholarships and 30 CXC fee grants per year in Jamaica, based on recommendations from principals and teachers made through CCJ's Jamaica Committee.

These awards to date include:

  • 352 high-school scholarships
  • 96 CXC fee grants (paying fees for students who could otherwise not have taken the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) examinations, which are required for high-school graduation and college entrance)
  • 12 college-level scholarships
  • Annual donations of US $1,000 to the UTECH Foundation in the name of Dr Alfred Sangster, Chancellor Emeritus of UTECH.

One recipient of CXC fees in 1998 responded this way, "I would like to encourage you to keep up the great work you are presently doing so that other young Jamaicans may benefit from CCJ's generosity."

    Books and Supplies
Through the generosity of corporations like Baxter International, Northwestern University, Manchester Realty, Caribbean Baking Company and others, CCJ has donated over 110 computers, more than 40 printers and assorted software to schools in Jamaica. With our corporate supporters and friends, we have also supplied copiers, and kitchen appliances to over 40 schools and 15 libraries in every part of Jamaica.

    Special Projects
In a special project, where many students at a school in the parish of Clarendon had severe vision and nutrition problems, the organization arranged professional eye exams and then provided eyeglasses for 82 of the 105 students and 4 teachers. CCJ also arranged to remodel the kitchen, install a new gas stove, refrigerator and freezer at the school and, with the help of our local committee in Jamaica, we assisted the school in starting a lunch program supported by the local community.
